July 2nd, 2008: The paps caught up with Britney in the parking lot of the William Morris Agency Wednesday afternoon. She seemed to be in a good mood, but as she left she blocked her face from the paps.

Good thing Britney Spears gets to spend more time with her boys these days because she won’t be spending any time with TV’s Golden Girl soon. Despite the fact that her appearance in the “Ten Sessions” episode of “How I Met Your Mother” was submitted for Emmy consideration, she’s not on the Top 10 list of semifinalists.
Too bad. Britney Spears actually earned a few decent reviews for her performance as a receptionist in a doctor’s office, including the New York Daily News, which said — with no intent of snarkiness: “Spears proved she can act every bit as well as she can sing.” TV Guide critic Matt Roush said Britney was “harmless and kind of cute” in the role, but “Scrubs” star Sarah Chalke — who portrayed Britney’s boss — “walked away with the episode.” However, Chalke failed to make this Emmy Top 10 list too.
Also missing from the lineup: Mary-Kate Olsen, who played a pot-pushing Bible-thumper on “Weeds.” Good thing Lindsay Lohan decided not to bother entering her name for her guest turn on “Ugly Betty.”

Our sources say over the last few months Adnan has been getting into The Summit, the gated community where Brit lives. They have been “together,” though we can’t say it’s still going on. Mel Gibson tried to play matchmaker between his son and Britney Spears, it has been claimed.
According to American tabloid the National Enquirer, the ‘Braveheart’ actor tried to hook Britney up with one of his twin sons, Edward — who was recently in rehab for cocaine and alcohol addiction.
Mel thought his son — who has turned his life around since he was admitted to the Cri-Help rehab facility in Hollywood last year — could help the troubled Toxic singer do the same.
A source tells the publication, “Mel felt Ed would be a great influence on Brit, and if the relationship turned into romance, all the better.”
Mel then arranged a meeting between the pair at Britney’s Hollywood Hills home last March, says the source.
“He sincerely believed that his son could help Britney stay on the straight and narrow and that they might hit it off as a couple as well,” the source adds.
But Spears refused to see Ed, and hid from him and Mel as soon as they arrived at her house.
The source continues, “She hid from them for most of the night. Mel and his son spent most of their evening talking to her bodyguards!”
Though his matchmaking didn’t work, Britney has been touched by his offers of support.
“Mel has become her close confidante,” says the source. “Mel’s helped out other stars, such as Robert Downey Jr. — and he’d love to see Britney do as well as Robert has.”

It was bad news for Britney. On June 26, one day after enjoying her first overnight with her sons, an attempt to settle her custody battle with ex Kevin Federline out of court fell apart. Britney hopes to regain fifty-fifty custody and is set to fight it out in court on Aug. 25.But Britney wants to be with Sean and Jayden at all costs — and she’s got a backup plan. “If she loses in court, she sees being as close to Kevin as possible as a way to have more time with the kids,” says a Spears family insider.
Grammy-winning producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins says he’s working with Britney Spears on some “very dancey, really up-tempo, aggressive, catchy, and hook friendly” material for the singer’s next album.
“I’m trying some new things [with Spears] … I’ve always worked with Britney and I love working with her,” Jerkins told Rap-Up TV last week at Interscope Geffen A&M’s Creme of the Crop dinner in Los Angeles. “I’m trying to reinvent her and reinvent myself with her project.”
Jerkins, who will produce two tracks on the untitled record, last worked with the pop star seven years ago on her self-titled Britney album, producing the remix for the track “Overprotected” and “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll.”
Despite pop star’s rocky year – including an ongoing custody battle with her ex-husband Kevin Federline and two hospitalizations – the producer stresses that one thing has remained the same about Spears: “She’s always professional.” He adds that while some artists take a long time to record a song, during a recent studio session, “[Britney] walked in at 8:30 and was out by 10:30.”
As far as Spears’s mind-set, Jerkins says she’s “working on the positive side.” Producer Sean Garrett, who has not yet gone into the studio with Spears but is set to work on her new record, also recently told PEOPLE, “I know she’s been doing a lot better … You just want to give her the opportunity to get things back together.”
And it would seem that Spears is getting back on track. Over the weekend she engaged in some happy mommy time when sons Preston and Jayden had a sleep-over at her Studio City home.

Guy Sigsworth, producer for Bjork, Imogen Heap, Alanis Morissette, and Britney (produced “Everytime” for Britney’s 2004 release “In The Zone”) has signed on to work with Britney for her upcoming album due out later in the year.
“It’s weird to think I’m doing him and Britney at the same time,” he says. Sigsworth, who is also currently producing tracks for Korn’s lead singer Jonathan Davis, says he might experiment with Britney and Davis in the studio: “I don’t know if I’ll try to persuade them to do a duet together. That might be pushing it too far.”
The Britney Spears Comeback Express is operating at full speed and thus far hasn’t had any bumps along the way, according to Rodney “Darkchild” Jenkins.
After a seven-year break, the producer is collaborating with the Britster again on her next album and is determined to “reinvent” the pop star with some edgy new sounds.
“I’m just trying some new things. I’ve always worked with Britney,” he tells Rap-Up TV. “I love working with her. I’m just trying to reinvent her and reinvent myself with her project.”
The two only started working four weeks ago, but have already laid down a few tracks and samples, described to be “very dance-y, very uptempo, in the clubs, real aggressive, and catchy…very, very hook-friendly.”
Rodney was most impressed with the 26-year-old’s professionalism and efficiency.
“It usually takes people a long time to record songs and we just did a song. She walked in at 8:30 and was out by 10:30 — did the whole song — in and out,” he says.
The album is due to hit shelves in 2009, and with things continuing to look up for the singer, Rodney thinks it’s definitely going to be the Year of Britney once more.
“I was very happy to see that she was working on the positive side and she’s moving toward new things now,” he says. “I think it’s about to be her time again.”

Britney Spears wants to move from her L.A. house to “a lower density, more quiet and less trafficked neighborhood,” according to a court document filed by her co-conservators, father Jamie and attorney Andrew Wallet.
The singer would like a home “more accessible to parks and recreation areas” for her children, Sean Preston, 2 1/2, and Jayden James, 1 1/2, the document says.
The sale of her L.A. home would be in “the best interest of [Spears], her Estate and her minor children,” the document says.
Earlier this month, Spears was granted permission to sell the six-bedroom home. At the time, mom Lynne told the court that her daughter “intends to return to Louisiana,” her home state.
Meanwhile, Spears and ex Kevin Federline are preparing for a custody trial, set to begin August 25. Federline currently has primary custody of their children.
“My preparation includes breakfast at home in the morning and then practice. My music of choice has been the new Britney Spears album, which is upbeat and helps me get my day started on the good foot.”

At a hearing last Tuesday, Spears, 26, was granted overnight privileges.
Asked if she were pleased with the judge’s ruling, she smiled and told Us, “yes.”
Meanwhile, Spears and ex Kevin Federline — who was spotted partying in Miami over the weekend — are gearing up for a custody trial, set to begin August 25.
Federline’s attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan told E! that a mediation session last Thursday didn’t result in a custody agreement.
Federline is seeking sole physical and legal custody of sons Preston, 2 1/2, and Jayden, 1 1/2 and wants Spears to continue her current visitation terms.

The ‘Gimme More’ singer is reportedly so angry with her mother Lynne Spears’ decision to publish the tome - which details both Britney and her sister Jamie Lynn’s showbiz lives - she refuses to be in the same room as her.
The disagreement is said to be so severe Britney initially refused to be present when her younger sister Jamie Lynn gave birth earlier this month because she didn’t want to see Lynne.
A source said: “Britney was so upset and angry with her mom that at first she refused to be at the birth. She couldn’t bear to be in the same room as her.
“But when Jamie Lynn found out that Britney might not be in there, she got really frightened and couldn’t stop crying. She begged her sister to reconsider, and at the last minute Britney agreed to come.”
Britney is so desperate to stop Lynne publishing her memoirs she has even reportedly tried to bribe her.
The source added to Britain’s Closer magazine: “Britney feels that just as she is moving forward, her mom is dragging her back. She’d even offered to pay her mom the equivalent of the book money to keep her quiet.”
